Due to its vast territory, the North Shore is certainly one of the best outdoor destinations in Quebec. Some areas are teeming with trails offering spectacular viewpoints, such as the Tadoussac area! Its geographical position offers perfect conditions for hiking, both along the waterfront and in the heart of the boreal forest. Here are 5 hikes not to be missed in Tadoussac and its surroundings.

  1. Pointe de l'Islet Trail

This very popular trail forms a loop of 1.3 kilometers, for a walk of about 30 minutes. Its route offers a wide view over both the fjord and the Saint Lawrence River. This waterfront hike is of easy level, making it ideal for families. It's also the perfect spot for beluga whale watching!

  1. Tadoussac Dunes Trails

Similar to the Pointe de l'Islet trail, the Tadoussac Dunes Trails are perfect for family walks and introducing children to hiking. Take off your shoes and let yourself slide along the impressive sandbanks at the edge of the beach! The forested portion of the trails is equally interesting, covering a total distance of about 1 kilometer, depending on your route.

  1. Red Point Trails

Located at the eastern end of Tadoussac Bay, this intermediate-level course is a must-see for a fresh perspective on Tadoussac and the river mouth. It spans a length of 2.4 kilometers. The trail delves into the forest and ends by opening onto a rocky section. Its conclusion, with a slightly more challenging ascent, offers hikers a spectacular view!

  1. Fjord Trail

A major attraction of the Saguenay Fjord National Park, the Fjord Trail offers a multi-day expedition. The most adventurous can embark on this 41-kilometer paid route, which connects Baie Ste-Marguerite to Tadoussac. Several accommodation options are available to hikers, as well as a shuttle service between rest stations to transport luggage and equipment. It is also possible to hike only certain sections of the trail to enjoy the unique world-class viewpoints.

  1. Mount Adéla Lessard

This mountain, accessible via the Fjord Trail, offers a round trip of about 7 kilometers and an unbeatable view of the fjord's mouth. It is reserved for intermediate hikers looking for a little challenge. For a day trip, it is possible to extend these 3 hours by starting the adjacent trails of the National Park.
